Did I Matter?
Breeze presses up against skin and is gone,
Did it matter?
Caressing and brushing before moving on
To another.
Sandcastles tumbled by waves, both disappearing as if they never existed
Did they matter?
The ocean turning and fueling life
For others.
The bloom’s color fading to nothing,
Why does it matter?
An explosion of birth and vibrancy
Of another
A smile, perhaps for just a moment,
How could that matter?
Swelling the heart
Of others.
I was but for the moment meant
Different than ever before or ever after
Yours only for an instant and yet forever
To be known and loved as I was sent
Knowing and loving you
We were, and in the future will be,
But for a brief time, we will be different.
It is in your heart I will dwell, sent
Finally, to care for you, not me
For I am already safe
We are here only until.
We love, we hurt, we take comfort, we live
We touch the world, receiving everything it gives
We are here for a purpose, to fulfill,
Pausing for a moment and moving on, always on
Did I matter?
Did I leave too soon? I was done.
Did I touch a life? You touched mine.
Did I make you feel? You loved me.
Do you miss me? I miss you.
We all matter.
